Pre-registration for courses held in 2021-2022 is a little different due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  On Dec. 16, school counselors used a Schoology message to send each student an individual message with a highlighted, course registration form to complete.

“During the pandemic the school counselors have relied on Schoology groups, courses, and direct messages to communicate information with our students.  The course pre-registration process began with an advisory lesson and a Schoology message,” said Joanne Buonviri, head of guidance.

In addition to the message, an alert now message or email was sent to parents about the pre-registration process. For additional information, contact one of the counselors to set up a meeting.

“I was told by my history teacher when I had to go to a Google Meet, then choose my classes using the pdf,” said junior Brandon Demarest.

According to guidance, additional registration meetings begin Feb. 10. Students and parents are encouraged to view course selections students completed via Parent and Student Vue in February and March. Changes can be made until spring break 2021.

“Second semester students for rising sophomores meet Feb. 10 and 11 during P.E., rising juniors meet during P.E. on Feb. 12 and 16, and rising seniors meet during VA US History on Feb. 17 and 18,” said school counselor Bryan Everett. “We are doing the best we can to make it as easy as possible in these circumstances. Nothing will be full, and schedules are made mid August,” said Everett.
