During every Asian Culture Club meeting, the room fills with students as they share stories, food and traditions.
“I’m hoping to see more members, have successful meetings and have fun,” treasurer Justin Salvador said.
The Asian Culture Club welcomes all students with different backgrounds. Students have the opportunity to learn about the diverse cultures of Asia through games, food, discussions and more.
“I’m most excited to learn about Korean culture and what holidays they celebrate throughout the year because most of my friends are Koreans and I would like to show them more cultural appreciation,” sophomore Varun Venkatadasari said.
All members of the club have the opportunity to recommend ideas for each meeting.
“Considering that the executive board is composed of different races and nationalities, we’re already aware of monthly events and celebrations. Other than that, we also release a Google form at the beginning of the year that asks members of the club for ideas for upcoming meetings,” Justin said.
Many people at this club join with an interest in learning about their own culture. Every meeting is crowded, with every seat quickly taken.
“One of the reasons why I joined this club is because I want to learn and be more incorporated with my own culture,” historian Derick Yoon said.
