Over 40 student musicians performed in the auditorium for their annual fall concert.
Students sang three medleys, which are a combination of songs from various musicals shortened into one piece. In addition, they sang a song from the movie “Wicked.” These pieces were chosen by piano, music theory and chorus teacher William Boardman at the beginning of the school year. The chosen medleys were “Wicked,” “Phantom of the Opera” and “Les Misérables.”
“The upperclassmen were excited to be singing ‘Phantom of the Opera’ another year, but the whole choir was generally excited because ‘Wicked’ and ‘Les Misérables’ are iconic,” junior Chloe Pistoia said.
Preparation for the concert launched at the beginning of the school year following the medley reveal. They incorporated a few after-school rehearsals as well to reinforce the medleys; however, it wasn’t always easy.
“We are majority freshman, so when trying to find our sound as a group it’s been difficult in crafting our community and harmony amongst new people we aren’t as familiar with,” senior Mia Fruit said.
After the performance, members were left with a sense of accomplishment.
“[I’m proud] of everyone involved. We all came together and made the concert the best it could be, and I can’t wait for our next performance,” junior Madison Murphy said.
