Sixteen seniors signed to their future colleges, accomplishing years of hard work, dedication and dreams of collegiate athletics.
“Being a college athlete is no small feat,” Principal Claire LeBlanc said. “It is a test of time management, perseverance and mental toughness.”
The National Letter of Intent (NIL) is a binding agreement signed and finalized during National Signing Day on Feb. 5, 2025. The annual celebration event, hosted by Terri Brackett and the student activities staff, welcomes family and friends of each signee to congratulate their achievements.
“I want to congratulate everybody that’s up here [on stage] with me,” senior Ryan Gocio said. “It is a big accomplishment.”
Gocio signed to play baseball at James Madison University, a NCAA Division I University in Harrisonburg, Va. Impressively, Gocio is among the 2.4% of high school baseball players who continue their athletics at the Division I level, according to NCAA.org.
“One of the greatest gifts of college athletics is the relationships made,” LeBlanc, a former Division I athlete, said.
Two other seniors signed with NCAA Division I schools, including varsity football quarterback Noah Colon and cross-country runner Lindsay Meadows.
“This has always been my dream,” Noah said. “The rest of the world will finally be able to see what I have in store.”
Eleven student-athletes signed to Division III universities, while two others signed at the Division II level. Each student had the opportunity to give a short speech introducing themselves and their future plans.
“I would like to thank my parents and coaches for this opportunity. I have been working towards this my whole life,” senior Vivian Wolfe said.
