“Whenever I hear the word ‘test,’ I feel like I am going to fail,” sophomore Cameron Lawrence said.
Students who negatively predetermine their outcomes increase their chances of receiving failing grades. One’s attitude determines the outcomes of daily obstacles such as tests, quizzes and crucial moments in life.
For example, in a publication by the National Institute of Health (NIH) it states that a “positive attitude, encompassing strong interests and beliefs in one’s ability, is thought to have a significant influence on a child’s academic learning and success.”
This proves that a positive attitude has a significant influence on a child’s success.
Norman Vincent Peale, author of international bestseller “The Power of Positive Thinking,” said, “Change your thoughts and you change your world.”
This statement is not a fallacy; people who strive for greatness and achievement in life must have a positive attitude. Thoughts are like a small rudder of a large ship because despite the rudder’s size, it controls where the ship will go.
Celebrities have gone through numerous struggles in life to become successful.
Life presented the renowned actor Jim Carrey with struggles.
In the early 1990s, Carrey faced problems early in his acting career and drove his car on top of a hill. He thought about his goals and dreams, and wrote himself a $10 million check to use as a source of motivation. Overcoming negative talk, he used it as an opportunity to wrap his arms tightly around his goals, dreams and ultimately create a path for success.
Tom Brady and Michael Jordan, would not have reached their stardom without a positive attitude.
“If you don’t believe in yourself, why is anyone else going to believe in you?” Brady said.
The quote emphasizes that without belief, one can never obtain success.
Like these sports stars, students must encompass a positive attitude to provide themselves with a fruitful future not only in academics, but also in life through positive attitudes.
