Many people around the world play Roblox, a children’s game with over 150 million daily users, but not everyone plays the game with moral intentions in mind.
The game acts as a hub for child abusers and cults that aim to do harm to unaware youth. Many parents have spoken out about their children’s safety while online, but Roblox ignores their concerns in an effort to avoid compensation and keep the game’s activity constant.
In October 2022, the game faced one of its first lawsuits for sexual exploitation towards children. Since then, Roblox has received dozens more for inappropriate content within the game, abusive manipulators roaming the program and real life cults using the game to lure in children onto other platforms.
One of the most recent lawsuits came from Chicago, Illinois, where a concerned father sued Roblox for the sexual exploitation of his nine-year-old son by a child abuser. After creating a bond with the boy, the abuser manipulated him into sending explicit photos to the adult in an act of false trust.
The father then contacted the Dolman Law Group to file his case.
“There have never been sufficient safety measures and protocols in place, putting our youngest and most vulnerable communities into unimaginable harm’s way every second of the day, ” said attorney Matthew Dolman of the Dolman Law Group. “Without forcing systemic change, Roblox will continue to operate anarchically.”
Ironically, the lawsuit was filed the same day that Roblox announced new security measures and age verification, but the damage had already been done.
For many years the company has avoided repercussions for their lack of safety and privacy, using apology letters in an effort to quiet the situation. While the game has restrictions on voice chat, this has proven to be ineffective as more lawsuits are filed each year.
A once thrilling creative game has become a breeding ground for child abusers and cult leaders whose misuse of the game threatens the safety of all children online. Despite these accusations, Roblox has slipped through the noose of justice and never faced any major consequences.
The game has never lost a lawsuit, which means they have no legal obligation to effectively change their safety measures, no matter how much they say it has improved.
Roblox had 3.6 billion dollars in revenue in 2025, yet spared many expenses on security, which is the main reason for parental concerns and the rising threat of many types of child offenders. The company only has money on its mind and seems to have little to no plans to change that.
The problems afflicting the game and the children playing it are creating dire circumstances for the online safety of youth worldwide, but if people address these issues and help stop Roblox from ignoring them, then the game will stop acting anarchically, and parents can rest easy knowing that their children are safe online.
