Varsity baseball recently faced Tallwood High School and ended the game with a score of 14-1.

The game started strong, with Ocean Lakes scoring one run within the first inning. Freshman Turner Kuhle received a base hit to score a run within the first inning.

“When I scored the first run of the tallwood game I felt like it was a good way to get things started off. We had just come off of a loss from the Cox game and we were ready to get back at it and beat Tallwood,” said Turner.

Throughout the game, sophomore pitcher Luke Ellison worked industriously. Luke held Tallwood to only one hit over four innings, striking out three and walking one.

“Luke had a really good game. He struck out three players on top of other things he did during the game,” said head coach Peter Sell.

The second inning worked in favor of the Dolphins with five runs being put up. Big hits from juniors Ryan Gocio and Austin Crew and Seniors Colin Benson and Daved Holloway were scored, according to the Zell.

“Scoring felt good, after the hiccup on Wednesday against Cox, it felt good to put a good win in the books,” said Austin.

The third inning went by with Tallwood putting their only run of the game on the board with junior Ricky Johnson scoring for Tallwood.

During the fourth inning, senior James Cummings scored a run, followed by Ryan receiving his second run of the game. Sophomore Connor Mais scored his first run of the game as well, bringing the score to 9-1.

“We were having a ton of fun, but we were still focused on putting more runs on the board,” said Cummings.

The last five runs were put up during the fifth inning with Ryan scoring his third run of the game and Turner, Austin, Colin and Connor all scoring their second, ending the game with a score of 14-1.

“Our offense was firing on all cylinders. Hitters were hitting. Pitchers were doing their jobs. The defense locked everything down behind our pitchers. It was a great game overall,” said Ryan.
